Heart-to-heart blog posting is something I’ve struggled with.  I’ve wanted to keep this blog all about modest fashion – professional, and informative.  As I’ve gone along, I’ve shared a few pieces of my heart which have hopefully helped some of you readers out there.  So, although I’m not about to pour my emotional heart and foolish thoughts onto these pages uncensored, I have come to realise that honest blogging is what draws people in – aside from the fashion pics.  So here’s a little something that I’ve been thinking about and struggling with lately, here’s hoping it helps you too.

The age-old desire which, through it’s absence has plagued the generations since long ago and through it’s presence has provided a love for life that nothing can extinguish, is happiness.  We all want it, but time and time again it evades us.  We ask ourselves, am I doing something wrong?  Do I not deserve happiness just as much as the next person?  Can I ever be truly happy?  Being a Christian, I know that I have every reason to be happy and to have hope – a lot more than most people do out there.  But sometimes, ever frequently of late, I just want happiness – no strings attached!

I’ve thought I could find it in other people, things, experiences, from what people think and say about me… but all is pointless.  People fail you, things wither away and eventually, experiences die…  I read an article which was titled – Happiness is an Inside Job.  It’s true.  If we look for happiness in someone else or let our emotions depend upon what another says or does, we’ll be disappointed.  It’s a choice, from within.  You know those people you meet or hear about, that always seem so happy?  Nothing can fase them, nobody can get them down and they seem to have this inner strength of character that draws everyone to them.  I’ve always wanted to be like them.  But let’s face it, I’m not.  So, what’s their secret?

They live ordinary lives just like you and I and face the same kind of experiences, good and bad.  What makes them different?  I believe that it’s an inward choice, a choice to not let the trivial things in life make an impression on them, to not bother with those people who don’t care at all about them and to choose happiness above all other emotions that come their way, because life is beautiful and no matter what’s happening, something is still good – the sun is still shining and there is Someone Who still loves you above all.  We can’t make that inward decision by ourself, only when Jesus is in us can we truly be free to shake off the shackles that hold us down and look above and beyond the difficulties that come at us.

It’s not easy.  I write all of this as a hope, no, as a knowledge that I will someday be that person who is unfased by life and wears a smile, not a cheesy, fake smile, but a smile that is true and real and comes from deep within.  My happiness won’t depend upon other people, I won’t find my fulfillment in another but in Christ alone.  As always guys, it’s a journey and a hard one at that.  But we have the answer to the question of happiness and we know that we can have that true happiness.  It’s available to us, grab at it with all you’re worth and always remember that life is beautiful.

Happy Queen’s Birthday Weekend!  I hope you’re all enjoying the extra day off.  I sure am, which is why I’m here posting on this blog.  Actually, I’m posting more because it’s a holiday not cause I’m enjoying my day off… not that I’m not enjoying it, but… well, nevermind.

The inspiration for my alliteration came from a writing course that I’m doing at the moment.  At least, I’ll blame it on that.  If I don’t blame it on my writing course, I’d be blaming it on my ‘title conundrum’ but you really don’t want to get me started on that again, do you?

A few weekends back, a good childhood friend of our familys’ got married to another friend of ours’.  It was a really lovely wedding, and while we were there, Rhesa, my good friend, snapped some pictures of me in the outfit I was wearing.  The outfit consists of a lovely simple teal dress with a nice short, black cardigan.  I really like the embroidery sewn onto it.  It was a really simple outfit, but I thought that best for a wedding – simple but elegant.

Enjoy the lovely photos that Rhesa took and edited!

That last photo is the perfect example of how to smile too much!  🙂 I must’ve found something funny!

Oh, and what did you all think of our hair tutorial last week?  Anything else you’d like to see?

Enjoy your week!
