This and another post will be on the topic of transforming your summer dresses so that they are appropriate to wear for the winter.  I know that we’re coming into spring, but to be honest, in New Zealand at least, our springs aren’t much better than winter.  Americans out there, you’ll be coming up to fall soon, so you’ll want to note these tips as well.

The basics: You can layer long-sleeve shirts underneath the dress.  This works very well with sleeveless dresses, like the one in this outfit.  Use a colour that complements, but doesn’t stand out too much.  The feature of the gathered sleeves on mine adds a little variety to the outfit.  Thick tights or leggings also adds the extra warmth that you legs need in the winter.  Blazers or coats are a must in the transformation of your outfit.  They add warmth, and a formal feel also.

The accessories: Scarves are an accessory that are essential for me.  I love them, they add colour, variety and warmth for the winter months.  Add a pretty pair of pumps and you’ll be away.  Oh yes, and funky cardigans can be fun too, but may not be everyone’s cup of tea. 😉

If you’re trying to save a bit of cash like me, you’ll find that these tips are very useful.  You won’t need as many dresses for all the different seasons.  Just put a bit of this into action and your dresses will be set up for the whole year long.

Enjoy!

I haven’t actually worn this dress very much, but when Lydia and I put this outfit together, it held a new interest for me, and to be honest, I liked the look of this summer dress far better after it was transformed into winter wear.

Hope this inspires and helps you!  Of course, this may not work for all dresses, but have a go, you’ll be surprised 🙂
