puffa 1

Puffy, Fur, Vintage – those three words pretty much sum it up.

This is a weird outfit for me.  When I was planning my outfits before the photoshoot, I randomly chucked this on.  My motive?  I’ve been trying to style this puffer vest for a while now… unsuccessfully.  And, of course, these shoes – need I say more?  Love ’em.  So, this number was born!  It’s a great casual oufit and works well in these transitioning months.  It’s a rather autumnal outfit, even though, here in NZ, we’re well into spring.  So, what think you of this outfit?  Works well for an outside bbq, or coffee date.  Secretly, I haven’t worn this outfit out yet (ok, now it’s not so secret)… still not sure if I’m sold on it.  Love the shoes though. 😀

Look at the long hair people!  It’s coming along quite nicely… still trying to work out some good hairstyles.  Perhaps I’ll share my attempts up here on the blog… :-/

I was trying to listen to Katy Perry’s new album just now.  Gosh, I can’t even listen to it and write at the same time!!!  I started playing about six of her songs – *drum* *bang* boom*… too much repetitous beat… too much.  I’m sorry, I just can’t.  I feel like I left my last post on a similar note, sorry bout that.  Anyway, have a look at this slightly grunge outfit!  Tell me what you think???  Different for me, but I know that some of you will be pleased that I’m styling denim a bit more, yeah?

Motorbikes rule!!  Can’t you just see me riding one of these things, part of a gang, hair flying, leather jacket on, hurtling down the highway….????  Yeah… me neither.

It’s now time for some feminine wear.  Enter my sweet $16 number from Shanton.  What can I say, sales love me… or rather, I love sales. 😉  Anyway, this is the second awesome sale dress that I have acquired from Shanton.  You can find the first here.

I’ve used simple colours in this outfit.  The shoes are rather a feature, so in order for them to tie in a little better, I wrapped a silver belt around my waist.  Because of the simplicity of this outfit, I opted for a nice statement necklace – also silver.  A purple beret topped it all off (quite literally) and completed the matchy matchy-ness of this outfit.  Look, I’m not into matchy matchy a heck-of-a-lot, however there is a time and a place.  Make it subtle and make it work.  The simple elegance of a dark and light colour (e.g. black and white, brown and cream, or purple and silver) aid you in your clothing matchmaking experience.  This would also have been the perfect outfit to add in some arm candy, or an elegant hair-style.  You know, I’ve never been much of a hat person, but berets kinda work for me… maybe, still figuring that one out.

I’ve started working at a florist recently and just today checked out three thick books on the art of floristy, how-tos and step by step instructions.  The pictures and ideas are gorgeous!  I ordered these books, not so much to aid me in my job, but actually because I’ve decided to write an essay (for school) on the history, benefits and types of flowers and floral art.  Interesting stuff…  Anyway, I will bore you no longer but instead bid you adieu.  Please now, turn your gaze upon the following photographs:

Forgot to mention the cardigan.  This nice light grey cardie is perfect because it’s length is close to the length of the dress.  The look works well… I’m still waiting to (one day) buy a dress coat – those ones that flare out and are the same length as a cocktail dress.  Elegant!

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Here I am!

Ok ok, a hoodie, huh?  Yep that’s right!  Never thought you’d see the day, did ya?  Though, I don’t really understand what the big deal is…

I’m constantly being told how lady-like I am and the word ‘posh’ has been used on occasion… I’m still trying to work out what this means and whether it’s a compliment or not.  Anyway, I guess it really doesn’t matter.  But I’ll admit it, wearing a hoodie certainly is a change from my usual vintage, feminine style.  And look, I talked about this outfit a little in my last post so I’ll spare you the description.  Let’s just say, when I wear this, I feel so comfortable and stylish at the same time.  Who said hoodies can’t be styled well??

Oh, and a quick word about those shoes… my Grandma bought them for me for the grand price of $8!!!  Talk about a deal!  Anyway, sometimes it’s nice to add a bit of interest to an outfit like this.  That bit of interest for this outfit is in the form of those striped ballet flats.

Recently I went to a second-hand clothes sale.  I snatched up some good deals, but the best find came just 2 mins after I walked through the door.  There, sitting on the shoe table I saw a beautiful pair of tan, oxford heels!!  *sigh*  I’m wearing them now… lucky I’m used to being tall though, these pretties make me over 6 ft. 😉

Watched Twilight last night… 😐  I don’t understand…  And the Notebook the other day… (I know I’ll get a lot of hate for this) but I’m sorry, I really don’t understand the hype about Ryan Gosling?!  Ok, done.

Anyway, enjoy the extended version of my fav casual outfit!  Props to Rhesa for these lovely photos 😀

I realise I may have said a lot of the above stuff before in my last post… please accept my humble apologies 😉

Oh, and a bit of link love – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3wSbLa2uGg  This accapella song is AMAZING!!!  It makes me stop whatever else I’m doing and just listen.  I even paused writing this post to listen to it again.

Until next time…!

Heeey!

I’m here!  I’ve just been gone for a while…

For the last couple of months I’ve been super busy with a thing.  And I’ll do my best to explain that thing.  It’s called Convention.  Now that we’re introduced, let me explain what “Convention” is.  As you all may know, I’m homeschooled, and as part of the curriculum I use, every year I’m involved in a week long camp.  This camp is full of competition.  We spend a few months preparing about 20 events to enter.  This could be things like art and craft, to sports, acting, singing or sewing.  All the events are judged and ribbons and trophies awarded.  I focused a lot on singing and platform work – acting and public speaking.  I did really well actually and had a heap of fun!  The people are awesome and the teaching was so inspiring.  As a Christian curriculum, it aims to empower young people with the desire to serve God and others and to be enthusiastic about our Saviour – Jesus.  I had a blast!  Anyway, in the down time, I lay on the grass playing my guitar with a cute mini mouse bow attached to my head… um just see below.

And since I’ve been gone I’ve also…. bought a CAR!  My first, and I am in love ❤  Well, I think it’s nice anyway.  It’s a little Mazda Familia, 1994.  It’s in good condition and drives very nicely.  I will say no further… behold the beauty!

Me and my car

And because this post would be nothing at all without some sort of fashion comment.  I just want to mention that hoodie.  It’s a dream, honestly!  It’s comfortable but actually quite trendy I think – correct me if I’m wrong.  I’ve never really been one for hoodies, but… you know, I kinda do like this look.  It’s casual and nice paired with those cute, striped statement flats that I got for $8 the other day!

I feel like most bloggers go through this ‘transition’ with their fashion.  Recently I’ve read a couple of bloggers talking about their fashion evolving from vintage, girly pieces to more casual looks.  God-forbid that that ever happens to me!  …but I think there’s a time and a place for everything under the sun (to quote my favourite author) and that includes cute, casual wear.

Farewell readers!  Not for too long – I’ve scheduled a fashion photo shoot next week with my photographer friend.   And I’ve got a lot of new outfits to show you!

Esther
