Hi Everyone,

This is our last outfit in the Welcome Summer fashion photo shoot, which is just as well, cause I was starting to get a little embarrassed everytime I posted with the title Welcome Summer. It’s far from it here. I still defy winter and have not worn a long sleeve yet, however, saying that, I have worn more than a cardigan over my t-shirts.

This outfit is very summery indeed. The light colours, combined with the light lace fabric and cute, knee-length skirt, spell summer like nothing else does… except summer of course.

The lime yellow colour is rather interesting, not quite the bold yellow or stunning lime green, lime yellow gives you the best of both worlds with lemmons and limes. I mean, we couldn’t be happy without either of them right?

The skirt plus blouse with cardy look, is the classic going out and about outfit. I wear it all the time, and many similar looks have been featured here on this blog as I’m sure you’re aware. Saying all that however, this is an easy type of outfit to put together, with different results every time. It looks very feminine and by tucking and belting you’ll feel stylish as well. I think we all have our, “I can’t be bothered to work out something complicated, yet I do want to dress nicely,” days.  So remember this equition for feminine, stylish dressing.

Skirt + blouse + cardigan = perfect out and about wear

Follow this if you’re having a lazy day and you’ll be right.  However, it’s your choice what to wear, and you’ll capture your own unique style as you pair together your favourite skirts and blouses.  Have a look here, here, here, and even here for examples!  You get the idea, with variety nothing will look the same!

Enjoy the photos and as always, we love to hear your feedback.  Oh, and my skirt is almost finished, I dare say you’ll see it soon enough. 🙂

See you soon with a craft post!

Esther

Alrighty, so what’s with the title you may (or may not) ask. Ok, I owe you an explanation, so here goes:

I always find it very hard to come up with names for my posts, unlike a lot of other fashion bloggers out there. When I come up to the part where I have to write the title, I procrastinate and to be honest, go and ask Lydia what she thinks, though, nine times out of ten I just name it anyway. However, today was different, I started off with the usual, “Oh golly, what do I title this post?!” and then, “Um, Lydia, what do you think I should call it?” Then, brain-wave, I think of something just as Lydia says, “I think you should call it Off to Work.” (This will become clear in a min). I say, “Hmmm, a bit boring don’tcha think?” Well, Lydia doesn’t think so, but I know you are all dying to hear what my brain-wave was right?! It is, obviously, Lacey Days! It’s lame I know, and deserving of a groan, but I was sort of proud of my title, however, to appease both of us, I put Off to Work/Lacey Days up there. It’s only now, as I look at it, that I really begin to see that it’s rather oxymoronic, you know, going off to work, then the play off using lazy days. There you go! You now understand why, and have wasted over a minute of your precious time as well as reading my rather pointless explanation.

This post features a lovely fully lace crop-top. You may have noticed, that at the moment, full lace dresses and tops are in fashion. Glassons features many lace pieces from lace crop-tops to long, lace singlets. These can be see through with only the lace layer or backed with a lining and featuring a collar in matching material. All are lovely and rather my style, so I’m thrilled what this season has to bring us. Ezibuy also features a large range of lace outfits and pieces. Their latest magazine entitled, The Allure of Lace, has something to say about this latest style. “With a romantic heritage and a thoroughly modern makeover, these stunning lace separates are sure-fire style winners.” The cover page features a beautiful, bergundy, three-quarter sleeved lace dress and some of the first pages are filled with models wearing romantic lace tops and dresses.

Although this outfit is noticed because of the lace top, it is placed overtop of a simple black, singlet-style dress which we have mentioned before in a few of our posts. A black dress is definitely a versatile piece to own.

Lydia wears this to work often and finds it comfortable and stylish and has received many comments on the lace crop-top.

Go into Glassons and have a look to see what I’m talking about, and do yourself a favour and buy something! 🙂

Hi Everyone,

We’ve had some nice weather here recently, while I wrote my last post, I was thinking, “Goodness, this photo shoot is called Welcome Summer, but this really isn’t much of a summer, not even a late summer!” But… apparently, we are in for some nice weather soon.

Alrighty, so after that rather ‘out there’ post last week that I ‘pleaded’ Lydia to write, we are back to the norm, or as normal as it gets around here.

This outfit is something I would wear to church. A simple but smart outfit.

There really is nothing to this outfit but I love it mainly because of the pleated skirt. I originally bought it because I had been looking for one like it and then also thought that I could take a pattern from it and sew a similar skirt. Which I might add is in the process now and will probably feature in the next fashion photo shoot.

Just a quick tip, when wearing skirts with busy material, keep the top simple but elegant. Keeping the top one colour is a good idea, and you can also use this to your advantage by wearing a feature piece of jewellery which will stand out nicely against the simple top-half of your outfit.

Enjoy the photos and talk to you soon!

Esther

Hey Everyone,

I’m here on the request (or more like continual pleas) of Esther to post about this outfit, particularly the rather out-there, “would anyone really wear this,” headscarf/turban. My inspiration for this look came from the Fashion Quartely Spring photoshoot, where one of the models rocked half-a-dozen elaborate, multicoloured turbans with equally amazing colourful flowing dresses. As you can see from the photo, the turban is composed of two scarves twisted and knotted around each other. It’s really easy to do and remarkably effective (hopefully in a good way!)

To be honest, it’s actually hard to imagine anyone actually being brave enough in New Zealand to wear this kind of turban/head scarf look out in public. Just imagine how many people would stare at you if you walked down Queen St with your hair pulled up and covered by a knotted bright purple scarf? More than a few I’d imagine! However, saying all this turbans and headscarves are set to be a major trend in 2012. If you search it on google you’ll see what I mean – Marc Jacobs in particular has included them in his spring 2012 collection, and many style bloggists are commenting on the upcoming trend of this sophisticated headwear. So be warned – in a year or two you just might be proudly wandering the streets in a fashionable turban.

Signing out,
Lydia
